As my previous island has stubbornly refused to live up to that description(it’s now connected to the surrounding land by a wide, marshy land bridge) I’ve decided to spread my wings in the Island Project. This one will be familiar to all those who’ve ever driven on the A470 through the Brecon Beacons National Park and is on The Beacons Reservoir.
If any one knows of other reservoir islands in south Wales I’d love to know, they don’t always appear on maps.
Here’s some details on this shot - 3 Stop ND filter, ND Grad and polarizer, 13 second exposure at f22, Sigma 10-20mm lens at 11mm.
This is a photo I found and enjoyed while pursuing Flickr. If you like this, you can view all of my Flickr favorites or go check out some of my own photography.

Stunning landscape - where did you find this scene. It looks familiar
Fantastic long exposure shot! Love the composition and the sense of movement captured.
— Seen in my contacts’ photos. (?)
The long exposure makes the water look like ice - lovely composition.
Beautiful shot - reminds me of my time in that area.
— Seen on my Flickr home page. (?)
Bags of interest here Rob - the reeds, soft light on the hill, long exposure on the surface of the water and the island itself. Beautifully done.
Wonderful shot. Reminds me of being a kid. I used fantasise about rowing across to this island and living there as a small child. It stirs the imagination…:-)
Love the muted colours and the glassy water.
Yep…muted colours, bands of light..brilliant Rob.
I like the flooded grasses in the foreground, and the light catching Fan fawr. I will have a think about other islands and get back to you.
