After waking up early, getting in line at 7:30am, making the local news, the front page of the Seattle Times online for a few hours, (thanks for all the emails and text messages), and even getting picked up by the AP. I’m now a proud owner of an iPhone. Apparently you can now just go down to the store and buy one here in Seattle but whatever.

Now, after spending 24 hours with it I’m still glad I waited. It’s incredible. It’s sort of creepy how good it is. I feel like it’s a phone from the future, on some sci-fi tv show, and somehow I reached through the TV and grabbed it. Yes, the keyboard is a little tricky, especially when you have to type in passwords, and the camera isn’t great in low light or with motion but at this point people are just reaching to find things that are wrong with it. So far my biggest surprise has been the better phone quality. I upgraded from a Razor (on the same network) and the quality of my calls has significantly better. I talked with my Grandfather today and he couldn’t have been happier.

Sure, the nerd-o-meter for getting the thing so early is off the charts but to be honest, it was totally worth it. I realize $500/$600 is a lot for a phone but if you can afford it, there’s nothing even close.

Tom was gracious enough to let me play with his new iPhone today and I can attest to how cool it is! If I was not under contract with Verizon I would of drove to the Apple Store as soon as Tom left the house to get one myself!

Hooray for Tom! It was a kick getting your from-the-line reports, and of course seeing this.

Congrats my friend! I was able to purchase one as well. Hope you enjoying yours as I am mine.

Lucky bugger! I’m glad to hear the phone part of the iPhone seems to be holding up well. My experiences with most mobile phones is that the more extras they toss into the thing, the worse the phone part is (terrible reception, lousy audio quality).

I’m looking forward to tinkering with one in a week and hoping someone figures out how to unlock them before then so I can pick one up to bring home.

John: Sorry about that! You can use Markdown but not HTML. I’ve added a little instructional text to clear up confusion and have fixed your comment. Not that it really needs to be any easier to get to that photo.

Thanks John for the photo… made a sister’s day.

Brian: That’s almost just too painful to watch.

About T Incorporated

T Incorporated is me, Tom Watson, online. It’s a bit of a throwback to personal websites, something I believe were, and still are, the cornerstones of the original social network: the Internet. I’ve been publishing online since 2001 but have lost much of that work to the digital dustbin. What you will find here is all that is left.
